The ancient cartography of Milazzo shows it already at the end of the XVII century, inserted in the defensive system of the city of Milazzo and its port, with a detailed plan by Langger executed in 1823, where there are four gunboats and some covered rooms for the shelter of the garrison and dust.
The strategic position has destined it in the second world war to place of positioning of reduced or bunker, still existing even if partially “camouflaged” by a murals that covers the dome and represents a miracle of San Francesco da Paola. Along the sides of the battery are still visible the washrooms of Vaccarella.
