Church of Saints Philip and James

It is located in the area of Tono, more precisely ‘Ngònia (corner – inlet) as placed at the foot of the promontory relief. It dates back to 1686 as a noble building built in place of an older temple dating from the early 1400. As evidenced by the plaque placed at the entrance, it was restored in 1823 by its owners, Marquis Tommaso Mariano D’Amico and Domenico Calapaj. With very simple shapes, the church has a single nave with semicircular apse.

The original cult has been replaced by devotion to the Madonna di Tindari, whose polychrome statue is preserved, while the ancient painting of SS. Philip and James that adorned the altar was taken away in the second post-war.
